About Andy Burnham Mp

Andy was appointed Secretary of State for Culture Media and Sport in January 2008 having been Chief Secretary to the Treasury since the summer of 2007.

 

Andy was Parliamentary Private Secretary to the former Home Secretary, David Blunkett between 2003 and 2004. He was also a member of the Health Select Committee from 2001 to 2003.

Andy was elected as a Member of Parliament for Leigh in June 2001. Earlier in his career, he worked as a researcher for Tessa Jowell MP and at the NHS Confederation.
